A Familiar (ファミリア Famiria) is a human who serves a Homunculus or a Homunculus organization such as the L.X.E.. They generally protect the identities and locations of these groups, often for the sake of gaining power or granted wishes they believe the Homunculi can provide for them. These people are often rewarded by being transformed into humanoid Homunculi or are used to make animal/plant type Homunculi or are simply eaten by them. To prevent themselves from "accidentally" being eaten by Homunculi, they paint the Homunculus symbol onto their chest with flourescent paint.
